As webmaster of MDA Europe i usually keep track of Jo and Carina Kleuters' activities when it comes to MDA Europe. Besides the superrally 2007 i have not visited rallies since 2003 but since this rally was close to home i thought i'd help them out a bit. So on Friday June 6th i left to visit the 2008 Benelux HOG rally in La roche en ardenne. Because the weatherforecast was not that good i decided to go by car instead of packing my bike. I was glad that i did! When i got to 20Kms from Laroche i drove into some fierce fog and it would not clear until i reached the rally site. I know i am not a die hard biker, and i guess i will never be one. I already had my share of rain and snow in the first seven years i rode my 883 H-D Sportster. I think this gives me some credit. After checking in at the entrance of the rally (meeting Liza van Hernen) i immediately reported to the stand of MDA Europe to help them raise money for the belgian NEMA. Jo and Carina were already selling their pins and bike models, they arrived on thursday. It kept raining that friday so selling pins did not go as planned. We hoped for a better Saturday. On Saturdaymorning after having our breakfast we opened our stand at 10.00 and we immediately started selling. The weather was not all that, but we were able to get our job done. It was good to see that a lot of people already know about the existing of MDA Europe. When they saw us, they immediately asked for the brand new 2008 MDA/ Harley-Davidson pin. It seems that the effort Jo and Carina put in the MDA is starting to pay off. In the afternoon Bernard Rummens of NEMA arrived to help us selling pins. He actually went on to the terrain to sell the bag of pins he got from us. By the end of the afternoon he sold the entire bag! Good job! We managed to sell some 2007 pins as well. By the end of the day we were able to donate €630,-- to NEMA! We thank all bikers for buying the 2008 and 2007 MDAHarley-Davidson pin. Because without you we would not be able to support NEMA. We will attend the Harley-Davidson rallies in Minehead(UK), Barcelona(ES), Roskilde(DK), The european HOG rally in Italy etc. etc. Check our Harley-Davidson events calendar for 2008!
